These instructions are applicable for the Architecture, Structure, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Tabs. Each tab is equipped with up to five different buttons the user can select for their detail components. By programming these options into Revit utilizing the API (Automatic Programming Interface), users can utilize the keyboard shortcut (KS) method to use detail components. This procedure is applicable in Revit 2018 to Revit 2022.
Step 1: Before you begin, we need to begin a template file. First, go to the components tab listed under either the insert button, or through the annotate tab. Here, you will be able to load new custom detail components into your family.
Step 2: Once you have inserted the detail components you wish to choose from, save the template file and close Revit Completely. This will allow your settings button in your toolbar to be refreshed.
Step 3: Next, click on Settings under the KB-Detail tab and begin by assigning your Detail component selections, icons, and detail names. These settings will go into effect once you have restarted Revit.
Step 4: Finally, make sure you restart Revit and you will see the latest changes. You are now ready with your custom toolbar!
